If white rice is supposed to be bad for you, how come the Japanese have such long life expectancies?
White rice in excess can be bad for you but what i've noticed about a lot of people who eat rice, especially the English, is that they put the rice in a pan with water and boil it and that's it. It ends up looking like rice pudding and there's way too much starch in it. What you should do is wash the rice first about 3 times and you will notice the first lot of water you throw away is white, the second lot is whitish and the third lot, the water is more see through by now because a lot of the starch has been washed out of it. The Japanese don't just eat rice, like Asians (Indians) they eat a lot of rice but if you notice, they eat a lot of fish and vegetables. They prefer fish & vegetables over meat and deep fries food. If you ate a lot of fish and veg with rice over the next few week's, you'll notice that you will lose a bit of weight. The Japanese also excercise a lot more than we do here, the U.K is just one lazy island. So,to recap...the Japanese eat a lot of rice, fish and vegetables, keep active and work a lot, this keeps them younger, fitter and most probably, prolongs their lives.
