Autism is a developmental disorder, with numerous signs appearing in infancy, some before age 3 by clinical definition. Its genesis is in genetics (with possible exacerbating environmental triggers in particularly susceptible individuals), not in trauma and definitely not in thimerosal - a longstanding myth which has been thoroughly debunked.
